Americans United for Separation of
Church and State is an organization that defends the
First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and advocates for separation of
church and state.The national organization of
Americans United is based in
Washington and addresses the nation, the U.S. Congress, the Federal Courts,
and national media organizations. The national organization
publishes the monthly Church-State
Magazine, mobilizes activists to support church/state separation, and,
when necessary, litigates to preserve First Amendment liberties and
safeguards.
The Oklahoma Chapter of Americans United is based in Oklahoma
City and addresses Oklahoma communities, the Oklahoma State Legislature, the
Oklahoma Courts, and local media organizations. We publish the semi-annual
First Amendment Advocate, mobilize activists to
support church/state separation, and, when necessary, work with the national
organization to litigate to preserve First Amendment liberties and safeguards.

Meetup Description: This conference, in its second year, is designed to
inform and engage you in local church/state issues.
The morning session includes a panel discussion with local legislators
(Wallace Collins, D-Norman, and others) and a talk about academic freedoms
from Abbie Smith, renowned science blogger (http://scienceblogs.com/erv/).
Enjoy an on-site lunch session, while you network with other local
activists.
After lunch, hear the keynote speaker, Andrew Tevington, well-known author,
lawyer and father of the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.
The cost for the session is $15 per person, most of which goes to cover
lunch.
